Cranford Building

The project involves the historic rehabilitation of the Cranford Apartment Building for continued use as a 30-unit residential building with ground-floor commercial businesses. The Cranford is a 4-story masonry building with a basement and a partially finished attic. The building was constructed in 1922 with documented alterations made in 2015 (storefronts). The period of significance as established in the Part 1 and National Register nomination (in process) is 1922-1953.

This mixed-use 4-story multifamily building historic rehabilitation project was completed in 2024. Scope of work included restoration of 30 residential units, two commercial tenant spaces, basement support space and development of an attic fitness gym. Work of this contract included; exterior masonry veneer walls, clad wood windows with insulated glass, asphalt shingles, plaster and gypsum board walls, porcelain tile, carpet, vct, interior architectural wood trim and casework; limited miscellaneous carpentry, hollow metal and wood doors, interior glazing, and specialties including toilet accessories, fire extinguishers, and shades/blinds.
