About Us
Established in 1999, Goché Inclusions creates architecture that unites aesthetic elegance, economy of means and intelligence.
We believe that clarity of purpose, comprehensive processes and collaborative attention to craft results in an architecture that advances our client’s mission and transforms the lives of building occupants and their surrounding community. Although the rehabilitation of historic buildings and the development of experimental constructs has been a consistent project type for Goché inclusions llc the past decade, we are currently developing the new facilities for the Hinterland Music Festival and have completed several building additions. We have experience working with pre-engineered building and Insulated Metal Panel systems suppliers. We have an impeccable relationship with local and state plan review boards as well as with the State HistoricPreservation office and the National Park Service. We have been consistently recognized for our historic preservation by Preservation Iowa’s “Preservation at Its Best” award ceremony. Working with owner, developer and various other stakeholders, our work exemplifies the very best of design that adheres to design parameters including aesthetics, construction budget and long-term maintenance of small and large residential, commercial and mixed-use facilities. We recently completing the Argonne Apartment house (45 units) in Des Moines, Iowa, the Cranford apartment house (32 unit) in Ames, Iowa and the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines, Iowa. These new residential mixed-usbuilding rehabilitation projects have been developed in close collaboration with the owner, architectural historian and contractor. We have designed and are currently overseeing the construction of the new stage and amphitheater for the Hinterland Music Festival in St. Charles, Iowa.
Peter P. Goché
Principal and Founder

Peter Goché is an architect, artist and educator. Goché is principal and founder of Goché inclusions llc – an architectural practice established in 1999. He specializes in the design of functional and durable buildings that are highly tuned to the owners’ operational aspects. These are core values of his creative efforts and engagement with the owner, other design disciplines, regulatory agencies and contractors. Additionally, he works with the nature of perception and spatial phenomenon in developing his experimental drawing practice. His works provoke a temporal-spatial encounter that understands the simultaneous and complex nature of cerebral and corporeal experience. He is also founder and director of Black Contemporary, a rural field station dedicated to the study of experimental drawing and perception. His research on material practices has been published in several edited books and journals, including Architecture as a Performing Art (Ashgate, 2013) and Architecture and Culture (Routledge Taylor & Francis Group, vo. 4 issue 3 11/2016). He has staged exhibitions of his work at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, The Soap Factory, the Des Moines Art Center, University of Florida School of Architecture, the Waldemar A. Schmidt Art Gallery and European Cultural Centre – Italy. He has co-lead workshops at the 2014 and 2018 Venice Biennale. As educator in the Department of Architecture and foundational design at Iowa State University, Goché holds both B. Arch and M. Arch degrees in architectural studies from Iowa State University. Goché has presented papers and lectured on his creative practice and scholarship at many conferences and cultural institutions throughout North America and Western Europe. His understanding and sensibilities regarding spatial experience and ethno- specific design stem from an agrarian upbringing and ongoing research in art, architecture and anthropology at Iowa State University. Equally, his travel throughout North America, Europe and the Czech Republic has nurtured his interest in human beings, their practices and the ways they occupy and perceive space.
